New Research Shows 80% of Us Consider Hearing Loss Serious, So Why Do We Ignore It?

Research conducted by the Hearing Industries Association (HIA) revealed that 4 out of 5 Americans believe that hearing loss serious, but ignoring the problem is more common than people may think. Less than 16% of adults between ages 20-69 who need a hearing aid use them. This almost doubles to 30% for adults over age 70 who need a hearing aid but don’t use one, according to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders.

Florida telehealth bill

Florida Telehealth Bill Seeks to Legalize Direct Mail Hearing Aids and Amend Dispensing Laws

New proposed bill (CS/SB 700) in Florida, if passed, would expand telehealth and make direct-mail hearing aids available to adults, while amending current laws regarding the sale and distribution of hearing aids in the state. More specifically, it would make it legal for a person to sell or distribute hearing aids through the mail to end-users who are 18 years of age or older—previously a second-degree misdemeanor.
